The Serpent's Secret - Sayantani DasGupta
I just got a new book. The Serpent's Secret.
The Serpent's Secret, by Sanyantani Dasgupta, is the first book of the series Kiranmala And The Kingdom Beyond.
I read it in just a day! It was so good. I loved it!
Kiranmala was living a good life in Parsippany, New Jersey. That is, until her twelfth birthday.
Her parents always called her "princess", and told her that she is a real live Indian princess! But, she never believed them. She also has two scars - one on her arm and the other on the back of her neck.
On the morning of her twelfth birthday, she noticed that her parents were acting weird.
But, she didn't really pay attention to it, because, according to her, they were always weird.
When she returns from school, she finds that her parents were nowhere to be found, and her house was a mess!
She found a letter :
She also found the rupees.
She did not know what to do, she was confused. She thought that her parents were pranking her. Suddenly her doorbell rang, she slowly opened the door to find two boys, around her age.

Her ma wrote her to trust the princes, but she was hesitant at first. But when the princes showed her that a rakkhosh had entered her house and made a mess, she remembered that her ma told her to not let a rakkhosh in the house. They were definitely not pranking her! She was terrified. She had no other option, but to follow the princes and go to safety.
Suddenly her normal life changes as she is another dimension full of magic, battling demons, solving riddles, moving maps all the while avoiding the Serpent King (who may or may not kill her) and the rakkhoshi queen (who definitely wants to kill her!) in order to find her parents and to basically save the entire world!
Make sure to check out this amazingly adventurous book!
I also made an unboxing video of the book, when I received it. I have posted it on my Youtube channel.
